Why using such a term “Sunni triangle”. This is wrong and it’s discrimination against many Sunni people who don’t accept the killings in Iraq
* When did this term started?
* Who is the “genius” started this definition?
I am from a Sunni parents no one in my family collaborated with the Bathists ever, no one liked Saddam and no one supported Saddam, it is another way around my father been jailed because he was communist and my mother been fired because she was a communist and they are both Sunni.
People ask me all the time “are you Sunni or Shia?” which means “are you a terrorist or a victim” and I am sick of it, telling people I am from Iraq makes them scared, tell them I am from Sunni family and watch the shock in their faces.
Since when the Iraqis used such a terms it’s only started after the war. Even geographically it’s a wrong term, to give a region a name based on faith, ethnic or believe is wrong. Can I say for example Evangelical (Bible belt) Southern States? Bush triangle in the Southern USA? Jewish triangle in (I don’t know where).……etc.
We are in a new era of Iraq and it’s very important to boost the national identity feelings between the people and calling the region Saddam supporters triangle is much accurate and have a very good positive effect with the war on terror.

It’s just a phrase we made up, for convenience. Please, please understand that most Americans understand that Sunnis are many people, who happen to include terrorists. And lots of the terrorists are non-Sunni. We know this. So just because we use this phrase does not mean we think all Sunnis are alike.
I’m sure the people of Fallujah are just as outraged that their name is associated with the terrorists operating in their city.
Saddam Support Triangle takes too long to say. Do you have a shorter version? What do you call it yourself?
