ately insurgents attacked Mosul and civilians and Iraqi National Guard (as they are not fully trained) were the victims of the attacks and we are waiting for the major US assault on Mosul, for sure many innocents civilians will be victims as always, A different approach is required to separate the insurgency from the ordinary people, its not easy for the Iraqi National Guard nor the coalition to differentiate between the two, but we need to find a way to flush out Tawhid wal Jihad, Ansar al Sunna, Jaish Mohammed or whatever the hell they are calling themselves these days and isolate them. At the minute, all we are doing is diffusing the problem from Fallujha to the other cities. We will be chasing our tails if we continue to do this from city to city and it can go on like this forever. Its time to engage the sane local population and marginalize the insurgents. Admittedly I don’t really know how we can do this.
