American or Islamic Empire?

American_empire

I must admit for the first time I agree with him but this sudden awakening came too late, after four years of war on terrorism and two consecutive wars that Bush dragged the world into here we are here we are reaping the benefits of these efforts.

Bush’s ideology lies in the fact that Bush thinks it is America’s right to decide people’s fate.
Arabs will never accept an Islamic empire neither an American empire.

  1. Hey, I LIKE being an EMPIRE!

    What?!

Listen, every other country at some time was an empire, right? It’s AMERICA’S turn to kick ass and take names later.

Shit, even MUSLIMS had an half-assed empire at some point in history.

LONG LIVE AMERICAN HEGEMONY AND KICK-ASS EMPIRE!

    In YOUR FACES, Mofos!

–your friendly imperialist, psycho sicko American, Jeffrey — New York

Anyone who says being part of a dominant empire is not a beautiful experience is LYING.

Arabs would LOVE to have an empire, any old half-assed kind of empire. Bin Laden has promised them one, but people watched his Al-Qaeda run or get killed in Afghanistan. So much for Bin Laden’s dreams of Khalifate.

I know that you agree with the sentiments expressed in my finely-worded encomium on the benefits of empire.

Actually, the US people merely reserve for themselves the right to straighten out criminal regimes that make it unsafe for its citizens to walk the streets of it own country or who attack its soldiers where they have a lawful right to be (ala Panama 1989).

They bides their time with criminal regimes that don’t make themselves unbearable, and sometimes they even risks their soldiers’ lives taking on criminals when their European allies ask nicely (Bosnia, Serbia, Liberia). Otherwise, if regions don’t show enough appreciation for their presence, they leave them to themselves (Somalia, Lebanon, Philippines).

Naturally, freedom-loving Syrians and Iranians would be better off if the US took out their dictators and set up democracies, or at least set up no-fly zones in the Kurdish areas, but frankly Americans don’t really care much about lands outside their borders (as you frequently remind us). They resent every dime going to foreign aid, to the U.N., and to missions in Europe, Asia, and Africa. They tolerate the spending only because their leaders keep insisting that they are better off in the long run if they do.

The fact is that 99.99% of Americans don’t want to live anywhere else, and can’t imagine why anyone else would either: but that other people do live somewhere else, Americans consider it those people’s own problem.

You really have an inflated view of the way Americans see you, LB.

What President Bush said was: “This form of radicalism exploits Islam to serve a violent political vision: the establishment, by terrorism and subversion and insurgency, of a totalitarian empire that denies all political and religious freedom.”

Now there’s an empire that Michael, Ladybird and Nada can support!

  6. Hank says:

By the way, why the quotation markes around the word “major” in the first sentence of the preamble to this thread?

Is that snide punctuation meant to make some kind of intelligent point?

Jeffrey– “Anyone who says being part of a dominant empire is not a beautiful experience is LYING.”

The US taxpayer will be paying for this war for a long time and getting no actual benefit from it. Yeah, it’s really beautiful.

CMAR– “the US people merely reserve for themselves the right to straighten out criminal regimes that make it unsafe for its citizens to walk the streets”

Yeah, but sadly they elected Bush a second time too. So much for straightening out criminal regimes.

    They resent every dime”

It would be one thing if the US had handled all its domestic issues, but that is not the case. This country is deep in debt because of the occupation of Iraq and that money is going to have to be paid back somehow. The American taxpayer cannot afford to foot the bill for the deposing of every uncooperative puppet dictator that we installed.

The fact is that 99.99% of Americans don’t want to live anywhere else”

This is funny because CMAR will be the first to jump someone’s case for using a bullshit statistic.

Hank– “a totalitarian empire that denies all political and religious freedom”

Brought to them by the dipshits of the Bush administration.

Is that snide punctuation meant to make some kind of intelligent point?”

Must have been over your head.

Blasphemer– “Give the secular commie dis-information stuff up BirdLady, and while you’re at it give up the Islamic fascism also.”

You are such a sucker. You’re going to support the Bush administration and then criticize anyone else for deception? You can’t see the trees for the forest.

    Jon,

That’s a load of crap. This country is deep in debt because of Medicare, farm subsidies, and a Social Security structure that that undermines private savings and investment. It is not the spending we choose to make that is driving us under, it is the spending we have committed ourselves to because we want our neighbors to pay our way. I would think that as supposed Libertarian (putting the “pose” in “suppose”) you would realize that.

This is funny because CMAR will be the first to jump someone’s case for using a bullshit statistic

I’ve never questioned even one of your statistics, Jon.
I stand by what I said. However, if you are one of the .01%, let me help you with your bags.

Yeah, I noticed you forgot to mention the corporate welfare side of things. I guess we only see what we are willing to see. Yes, those things are also a problem. But my point is that we are going deeper into debt to finance the operations in Iraq.

It is not the spending we choose to make that is driving us under”

No, it’s the inability to live on a budget.

Honestly, with that grammar, I’m not exactly sure I even understood what you said. ;-)

I’ve never questioned even one of your statistics”

Heh… good thing. I’m pretty sure I never post statistics. ;-)

I stand by what I said.”

And… as I’ve said before… I fully see your point. But I am the ONLY ONE here who sees anyone else’s point I think. Or at least the only one who will acknowledge anyone elses point.
