My source is not a book I read, a website I found or a documentary I saw, my source is my uncle who was in Germany at that time and he was in Germany custody after the 1972 Olympics events (every ME/ North African men held in custody after the events by German police).

Taking for granted that this is true, all Israelis serve in the military except for exceptional circumstances. Why not just say they were Israelis? The terrorists who kidnapped the atheletes did not care about their military service. If they did, they would have released the supposed two that were not soldiers.

What? Hostage negotiators lied to kidnappers? Outrageous! Such a thing is never done! They were promised safe passage with their hostages to Cairo! Lying Germans!
As you can read in the Wikipedia link you provided, it is simply not the case that the hostages were out in the open when the ambush took place, somehow your uncle got it wrong even though he was in the same country at the time.

As for Israeli snipers being involved, I don’t know who “has said” that. The Germans were apparently very adamant about not permitting foreign security elements, as would probably be true in almost any country.

Last night there was a debate on TV (Debatt) about the media reporting from Israel and Palestine. An Israeli and Jewish (pro Israel he called himself) man living in Sweden said it clear Israel is occupying Palestinian land. Israel builds colonies on occupied land. Israel builds a wall on Palestinian land. As long as that goes on there will never be peace there.
And I fully agree with this man. The way I see it; end the occupation if you don’t like what its side effects are. That includes what happed in Munich.

Just for the record, about 75% of the Palestine Mandate is what we now call Jordan. Jordan IS Palestine. Jordan is occupying 300% more Palestinian land than Israel is.

The violence will not end when Israel pulls out of the West Bank it will not end the violence because many mainstream parties there (including the ruling party) say all of ISRAEL is occupied land.
If Israel pulls out precipitously they will only have to go back in when those elements continue the violence for more concessions.…and you will not then come admit that “well, I guess pulling out was a mistake.”
If Israel doesn’t go back in, the US will when the worst of the Zarqawists take over there.

I’m not here to argue with anyone, but I just think that everyone should recognise how freaking spectacular the Munich seige was. Goddammit. I know people died, families were torn apart etc etc, but it was the first of it’s kind and definitely the most ideologically significant in history. Lets just accept that and get on with our pointless lives, knowing we’ll never be that brave or noble.

I say we let Israel wipe out the whole middle east and let the United States Marine Corps make it into a parking lot for them.
Israel is the biggest dog in the Middle East and the rest need to respect them for that. Let them wipe out Hamas and Hezbollah. The world would be a lot better off without assholes like them in it.
