The New “Ugly American� is very ugly

Since 1958, when William Lederer and Eugene Burdick published their book, “The Ugly American� , the US did very little [about nothing] to win the hearts and minds of other cultures, peoples, countries, compared with ex-colonists Europe.

No need to say, last years Anti-Americanism is growing all over the world [Thanks to Bush & Co], making the US a pariah country, and US citizen are not welcomed everywhere.

To learn more about this, here is and interview with; KEITH REINHARD (Chairman of DDB Worldwide, one of the largest global advertising network agencies in the world.)

And he will tell us in his two part interview about how damaging this is for US business and the effects on US citizens:

Part 1

a man in Chile said Americans are like a disease; they infect the body and they don’t care about the body. They only care about the disease. And a woman in Germany said, “How can they possibly pretend to lead the world? They know nothing about the world. They are ignorant of other cultures.”

Part 2

a man in Belgium will not let his children go to any birthday parties where Coca-Cola or any American product is served. [And he says] I know that this doesn’t matter to the American company really, but I so disagree with American foreign policy, and I know that those companies pay taxes to a government whose policies I disagree with, so this is my little way of saying, “I object.”

    LB,

    Near my place (In Europe) there is an office for US student exange, I chatted with the Boss and he told me that the student are advice to pretend to be Canadian.
    They are so shame of their country that they have to pretend to come from an other country.
    It is Sad indeed.

    Yes there are reports that American tourists are doing the same, embarrassed by their country and embarrassed by their President.

    In Europe, for your personal culture Jon, the last beheaded was Hamida Djandoubi in France 1977.
    He wasn’t an US citizen neither kidnapped.
