Future of Iraq: The spoils of war

The US government has been involved in drawing up the law, a draft of which has been seen by The Independent on Sunday. It would give big oil companies such as BP, Shell and Exxon 30-year contracts to extract Iraqi crude.

The possibility to pass any draft resolution through the creation a state of anarchy within any country applies to the current situation in Iraq, it is the ideal situation in order to pass a long-term contracts for the dig of oil resources in Iraq.

Depending on the tense situation and dangerous security situation in Iraq makes it a perfect circumstance in order to pass the most serious economic decision in the life of Iraqis and the future of their country [our country].

Iraq has suffered for long decades from the colonialist agendas to seize the Iraqi oil, nationalists struggled for long years to liberate the Iraqi oil and economy, which depends primarily on oil revenues. Plundering Iraq’s oil was put to an end with the decision of nationalization of Iraqi oil 1971 oil.

If you really to know how they prepared the Iraqi for this decision then you should go back three weeks ago, to see what happened in the dark corridors of the Iraqi Parliament.

A report on Al-Sabah [Iraqi government controlled] newspaper, [celebrated by at least one Iraqi Blogger]this is what it read:

Iraqi Parliament in discussion on 30% of oil sales income to distribute among the citizens of Iraq

Economists estimated Iraqi oil annual proceeds are more than thirty billion dollars, approximately ten billion dollars will be distributed among Iraqi citizens in the form of monthly salaries.

The question is: WHY?, Iraqi government currently working on linking the Iraqi economy to the global capitalism, Imperialism economy system and to meet the interests of these segments with what was going on in Iraq. The first step was the open market economy, which achieved in a record time distortions in the Iraqi society structure, unemployment crisis, uncontrolled domestic market prices and unclear economic plan.

The decision of distributing oil revenues among Iraqi citizens wasn’t an arbitrary decision, it was well studied and planed decision came to prepare the Iraqi street for a later imperialist’s decision.

I hope Iraqi people can understand that Sovereignty is not political matter only, It is the whole package.

    Hi LB! ; )

Do I think that Bush and his team would have let one US soldier die if Iraqis did not have oil? No, they would have let the coutry rot in hell, unless there was another resourse they wanted and needed to “protect their way of life”.

Oil oil oil, soon water water water, always Israel Israel Israel are the reasons why the US and its allies are in the middle east the last 60 years.

  4. Put yourself in the mind of any big international oil company, western or nonwestern. Would you have any trust in any 30-year agreement with any Iraqi organization?

  5. Nadia says:

Jon you better tell that to international oil companies who are doing the deals.
