The United Nations Work­ing Group on the use of mer­ce­nar­ies today expressed con­cern about the increas­ing involve­ment of pri­vate mil­i­tary and secu­rity com­pa­nies in coun­tries fac­ing con­flict, includ­ing their work pro­tect­ing min­ing com­pa­nies and the effect this has on local communities.
