A sudden love-lost between the US and Saudi Arabia

In a mat­ter of two days, the US accused Saudi Ara­bia of two things:

- White House warns Saudis over machi­na­tions in Iraq

So, why this sud­den love lost, even a $20bn Arms deal is not enough to make it good.

Accord­ing sources, Saudi King Abdul­lah Bin Abdul Aziz, refused an Amer­i­can invi­ta­tion to par­tic­i­pate in the inter­na­tional con­fer­ence on the Pales­tin­ian solu­tion advo­cated by the Amer­i­can Pres­i­dent George W. Bush next autumn.

The sources said that the rea­son for the Saudi rejec­tion was that the Israelis want only to achieve nor­mal­iza­tion of rela­tions with Arab coun­tries with­out a real solu­tion to the Pales­tin­ian issue.
Egyp­tians sub­jected to Amer­i­can pres­sure, to stop finan­cial assis­tance to Egypt, the annual 2,1 bil­lion dol­lars because of their rejec­tion of the for­ma­tion of an inter­na­tional force on Gaza strip demanded by Mah­moud Abbas, and their insis­tence on the resump­tion of dia­logue between the two “Fatah” and “Hamas”.

The sources added that Omar Suleiman, the Egypt­ian intel­li­gence direc­tor gen­eral has made an unan­nounced visit to Wash­ing­ton in order to achieve a solu­tion with Washington.
