This morning Al-Jazeera reported that Iraqi Islamic resistance factions formed a new front called “The Political Council of the Iraqi Resistance”, the statement says that the factions who joined the new alliance are:
1– Jihad and Reform Front.
2– Islamic Front for the Iraqi resistance (Jama’a).
3– Hamas-Iraq.
The Arabic announcement can be downloaded here or here (PDF), the most interesting part of the announcement is point 10 (see below) “the formation of a technocrats government” and not an Islamic government as people expected.
Political program for the new alliance is the following:
1– The occupation of Iraq is injustice and aggression, not acceptable religiously and legally, resisting the occupation is legitimate by all laws.
2– Armed resistance to, is the legitimate representative of Iraq, which carries a responsibility to lead the Iraqi people to achieve their hopes.
3– The liberation of Iraq from foreign occupation and influence and achieve full independence, and force the occupiers compensate the Iraqi people for all the moral and material damage.
4– The Mujahideen operations target the occupiers and their agents, the operations do not target innocent and the vulnerable civilians.
5– We refuse any change in the population structure of the Iraqi people, and the sectarian divisions of the people, and work to defeat the sectarian-ethnic project, and preserving the unity of Iraq land and people.
The Kurdish question will be considered after the liberation.
6– The Return of the displaced to their home areas and to be compensated for their material and moral damage and protection for them.
7– No legitimacy to any constitution, government or law signed under the occupation.
8– The Cancellation of all unfair decisions and judgments and release all prisoners and detainees.
9– Non-recognition of any treaty or agreement signed during the occupation, which contrary to the rights and sovereignty of Iraq.
10– The formation of a technocrats government, manages the affairs of the country during the transitional stage, this government has no right to sign any pact or contract a related to the fate of Iraq’s sovereignty and wealth.
11– Work on rebuilding the state of Iraq on a fair basis, that Iraq will be for all Iraqis, and to establish justice is the main goal, not accept the use of any party or authority to achieve ethnic or sectarian interests.
12– Iraq is part of the Arab and Islamic nation, and work to establish the Arab Muslim identity of Iraq is the first priorities.
13– The maintenance of Iraq’s wealth, especially oil and water, which belongs to all Iraqis.
14– Call Arabs, Muslims, peoples of the world and the international community to do their duty towards the Iraqi people to achieve the legitimate goals, and establish good relations with the world based on common interests, and dealing with the international bodies to serves the interests of Iraq and its people.
In conclusion ….This project is not a substitute for political Jihadi project, but it is complementary.
Ladybird, I reported this nearly two weeks ago on your blog:
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/4565633F-9691-44A8-B14E-F3D1F97C6414.htm
Several nationalist and Islamist armed groups have formed alliances in Iraq in what they say is a move to thwart a power struggle should the US military withdraw and the Iraqi government collapse.
Zaidan
Thank you for the link I saw it at that time but the alliance is not the same, this one was reported yesterday on Aljazeera, I saw it myself.
This Resistance Manifesto is an eminently sane and just set of aspirations for Iraq.
Moreover they are far more committed to ultimately deliver on them than many of our political parties in the so-called democratic West.
The weak link in the current Resistance offensive comes at the end of this document. It is the reference to the jihadist project. This is the point at which the resistance leave themselves extraordinarily prone to infiltration by the Wahabbist and Salafi US proxies who have, paradoxically, already done so much with their hardline Islamist version of Islam to facilitate US domination in the region.
By seeking to freeze developing muslim societies in sharia-ruled authoritarianism
with its inherent siege mentality they play directly into the globalist project of Western elites. The “arc of crisis” and limits to growth strategy of these elites seeks to restrict the benefits of modernisation to the West and deny them to muslim countries.
The environmentalism espoused by these elites is a cover for denying these states, like Iran for example, the nuclear energy that would enhance their prestige and negotiating power with the powerful Western states, and challenge the hegemony of Western oil companies by raising the price of and restricting access to oil.
At the point when the US occupiers have been driven out of Iraq and the resistance surveys the damaged society it has fallen to them to rebuild they would do well to ask themselves just how much they can achieve by continuing a jihad that was used so adeptly by the country’s enemies in order to destroy it.
Ladybird, the idea of a transitional government of so-called TECHNOCRATS has long been peddled by the false friends of the Iraqi Resistance — those who are in reality agents and stalking horses for the US, its Arab clients and other foreign powers!!!
My guess is that any so-called TECHNOCRATIC government would be headed by none other than that execrable old CIA agent AYAD ALLAWI.
Without a transitional NATIONAL FRONT government of bona fide patriots with a proven track record of opposing the neo-coloniaol occupation, none of the other substantial demands of the Iraqi Resistance will ever be realised!!!
@ LadyBird: Once again, our most sincere thanx for your splendid translation & reporting efforts ;)
