Lebanese newspaper: If the government don’t tell the truth about the American base in Lebanon, we will publish the secret documents

There is nothing exclusive about Debka’s report “Exclusive: The US plans new military presence in Lebanon including big air installation close by Syrian border” we already know that long time ago (see: The plan is a US-NATO military bases in Tripoli-Lebanon.)

The new thing didn’t came from Debka but from Lebanese newspaper Al-Safir, which Debka stole their report from.

Why senior American officials and military commanders continuously visit Lebanon since the Israeli war since last July until today?, These visits reached it’s peak this week with the visit of the head the American Department of Defense for Public Policy Eric Edelman, heading a delegation from the Pentagon? !

In this report, which was based on reliable sources, points to reports of an American official, Al-Safir detailed the full scenario of what the American administration presented to the Lebanese government, in these meetings although it is a top secret:

The visit by undersecretary of the American Department of Defense Policy Edelman headed a delegation from the Pentagon, a direct request from President George Bush.

The delegation met with Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and the Defense Minister Elias Murr and Army Commander Gen. Michel Suleiman, the talks focused on four main topics: the military situation in Lebanon, the intelligence situation, and the reality of the Lebanese army and the policy of the Lebanese state.

The American delegation joined by the American ambassador in Lebanon Jeffrey Feltman, introduced the draft Lebanese-American military contract dealing with military, security and strategy themes, and also relates the future of the Lebanese army and its national loyality, as well as the United States demands from Lebanon in the next phase.

It is worth mentioning that such agreement could be signed with the government and inform the cabinet on some items without the need to approve it in the House of Representatives.

During the talks Edelman paved the way for signing the agreement, referring to the desire of the United States to increase its military and security aid of Lebanon, which rose up from 50$ to 270$ million in 2007 and that there is a tendency to be a 1/2 billion dollars in future. But Washington examines very closely the reality of the Lebanese army and its relations (with others), in particular the relations prevailed during the past decades.

It was understood in this context that the United States is focused oat the national level on the guid brochure of the Lebanese Army, which contains constants policy.

Especially in the 5th section which emphasizes (brotherly relationship) and between Lebanon and Syria, and Section VIII, which emphasizes the (supporting the resistance).

The American delegation focused on the Section V above, is no longer have any justification, and the section VIII is no longer needed and that the subject of the resistance must find appropriate solution in the next phase.

In the talks Edelman stated , pointed out that the changes requires us to keep American strategy in the region, and that the United States itself is going to internal changes, ( but politics and security are two different things).

The delegation stressed that the presence of the Russians In northern Syria now threatens the American presence in the region … The delegation made some remarks about the cold Russian-American war, and the Russian movements in the region and the necessitate to change the American strategy, since Lebanon is the country closest to the Russian base Latakia on the Syrian coast, Hence, Lebanon’s small size is an important strategic location for the Washington.

In this issue the United States believes that any assistance to the Lebanese Army and the security forces must be accompanied with checks on the future of this army and the equipment to be submitted to the army, it is feared that the fall of these weapons and ammunition in the hands of groups stronger than the army.

In this context, the military draft convention between Lebanon and the Pentagon observed by military groups and American intelligence as well as Lebanese joint committees to coordinate and follow-up. The Convention also provides for the establishment of land, air and sea training centers.

It was learned that the debate with Army Commander Gen. Michel Suleiman was accurate, the discussion was on the role of the army commander and the military junta and the various military commands.

It was understood from the context that in some issues the United States does not see that some topics cann’t be addressed with rush, including the subject of Hezbollah weapon , which believes that the army needs training and rehabilitating for some time.

While we are waiting to hear from the Lebanese government the truth about what happened in the meetings, we will not publish further details.

This is our call to the government, and they can consider this as a warning, or we will publish the secret documents.

  2. Kenneth T. Tellis says:

The disclosure of secret U.S. bases in the Lebanon, exposes the secret plans the U.S. has for the Middle East in the future. If this secret base was legitimate why would the U.S. hide all information on it. Thus, we can see how far reaching the U.S. Middle East plot is, because it definitely includes Israel as a partner.

The more we look at world issues, the more be become aware of secret U.S. Plans. But this time it will not go away as the U.S. and Israel hope. The present Middle East situation gets more volatile each day, as we discover direct U.S. involvement. But, we should also thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for stting the U.S. right, by warning them not to attack Iran. Thus, gradually the balance of power is being re-established.
