King Abdullah’s visit to Syria, was it really about peace talks?

Most of western news agencies used this headline Jordanian king arrives in Syria on rare trip ahead of Arab peace meeting, while the reality is the visit had nothing to do with Arab peace talks and Annapolis not even mentioned in the final statement.

Notice this line:

the importance of the positive role Syria could play to guarantee security and stability in Lebanon

So why Abdullah the King of Jordan, one of US allies in the Middle East broke Syria ‘s isolation as ordered by the Americans? [he even gets his present for doing so: Syria to release Jordan prisoners]

Aluf Benn’s report on Haaretz few days ago explains the following:

the Israelis want talks with the Syrians and moves against Iran.….Israel wants [Syria] “to distance it[self] from Iran”.…The Israelis proposed a deal of “Iran in place of Lebanon”

The plan became more clear yesterday “Olmert, Barak hint at desire to renew Syrian talks

Abdullah visit is the start of other future visits by US-friends camp to Syria as revealed today by sadasoria:

Syrian sources revealed that the summit held on Sunday between President Assad and the Jordanian King Abdullah II, opens new horizons of series summits between President Assad and other Arab leaders.

There are intensive communications to arrange a meeting between the Syrian president and the Saudi King.… the coming days will witness contacts at the highest levels between Damascus and Cairo.
