Whenever someone rises to fight against the interests of the United States (like al-Qaidah in Algeria), they are accused of working for the United States. It is like saying that fighting for your freedom against someone imposing indirect control over you will lead to a justification for that someone to exert direct control over you. Thus, the freedom fighter and his oppressor are actually one and the same. The logic of colonial apologists and Muslim "moderates" never ceases to amaze.
