Al Qaeda training camp in Basra

Reported on eye­iraq, Basra police chief, Major Gen­eral Jali Kha­laf announced today after­noon that a police raid took place on a for­mer mil­i­tary camp in Basra used recently by mili­tias as a train­ing camp, the police dis­cov­ered explo­sions, ditches, places to train ter­ror­ists on bombs mak­ing, snip­ing and slaughtering.

Police chief the north­ern sec­tor Brigadier Mutar said prob­a­bly this camp is used by Al Qaeda, we found maps oand doc­u­ments show­ing tar­gets north-east of Basra, we noticed that peo­ple for other provinces come and go to this train­ing camp.

[I am not sure if the police chief got it right, 80% of Basra res­i­dents and the neigh­bor­ing provinces are Shi­ite, there is no way that Al Qaeda can exist in this area, there are many mili­tias in Basra itself, say­ing Al Qaeda is the eas­i­est way to pre­vent any police con­fronta­tion with the other groups]
