Mahdi Army … the unarmed, civil service organization
Sources told Al-Arab newspaper that Muqtada Al-Sadr seeks to transform the Mahdi Army to a cultural, civil service, educational and unarmed organization, without reaching a “political party” stage.
According to these sources, probably Al-Sadr will issue a statement in this regard by the end of the “freeze” period [end of this month] in this regard.
The source said that Al-Sadr is bothered by the pressure from the Mahdi Army members asking him end the freeze and activate the organization again.

Seems nonsense to me. Everybody in the Mahdi Army wants to scrap the freeze and make the guns come back
