Mahdi Army … the unarmed, civil service organization

Sources told Al-Arab newspaper that Muqtada Al-Sadr seeks to transform the Mahdi Army to a cultural, civil service, educational and unarmed organization, without reaching a “political party” stage.

According to these sources, probably Al-Sadr will issue a statement in this regard by the end of the “freeze” period [end of this month] in this regard.

The source said that Al-Sadr is bothered by the pressure from the Mahdi Army members asking him end the freeze and activate the organization again.

P.S.

This is really hilarious, I don’t know what Muqtada and his Mahdi Army can teach us.

Seems nonsense to me. Everybody in the Mahdi Army wants to scrap the freeze and make the guns come back
