Baath Party –Syria– desperate to join Maliki’s government

The best description for this weird “national reconciliation” conference is reported on Al-Akhbar :

It seems that the concept “national reconciliation” is very unique according to Al-Maliki, and his government, it can be summarized as the following:

- Not to invite the largest Sunni party Al-Tawafiq “Iraqi Accord Front”.

- Close all the participation opportunities of the Baath Socialist Party.

- Announcing the execution of Saddam’s assistants Sultan Hashim Ahmed, Ali Hassan al-Majid «chemical» and Hassan Al-Tikriti in “one decision”.

Although they are already part of the government, remarkably, the Iraqi government saw that the main participants “outside the political process” are the leaders of the “Awakening Councils”.

Elaph reported: The Baáth Party –Syria wing– spokesman Mahmoud Al-Sheik told Elaph that his Party [wing] don’t mind joining the political process and attend the reconciliation conference if the wing presented in the constitution in a way that separates it from the former Baáth party led by Saddam Hussein.

We received invitation for the current conference as individuals but not as a party, that is the reason why we didn’t participated, we fought against the former Ba’ath Party and we joined the meetings with the Iraqi oppositions before the war but we disagreed with them about the foreign intervantion.

The statement of the spokesman of the renegade Syrian or Younis ‘wing’ reported by Elaph confirms what I have said about these mischief makers on many previous occasions: “We fought against the former Ba’ath Party and we joined the meetings with the Iraqi oppositions before the war.” Instead of USURPING — and thereby dishonouring — the name of the Arab Ba’ath Socialist Party at the behest of the CIA and Syrian intelligence, these saboteurs ought to found a party of their own and give it a new name.

Mahmoud al-Sheikh Radhi and his so-called “Baath party” have absolutely nothing to do with the Iraqi Baath party. Mahmoud al-Sheikh Radhi is a Saddam opposer, and he had links to to the Dawa party and the SCIRI even before the war: in 2001 he signed a revolting statement together with Ibrahim al-Jaafari and Hamed al-Bayati ( the London representative for SCIRI) and other thugs

(i posted the cache, because the link isn’t working).

Mahmoud al-Sheikh Radhi, Ibrahim al-Jaafari and their friends called for “prosecuting the dictator Saddam Hussein and his cronies, putting them on trial before an international tribunal for crimes against humanity and war crimes which they have committed.”

In April 2001 Mahmoud al-Sheikh Radhi signed that shameful statement on the behalf of the “Arab Baath Socialist Party — Iraq region command”. If such a thing as this phony “Arab Baath Socialist Party — Iraq region command” does indeed exist, it is only a small insignificant group founded in Syria during the Saddam’s government and linked to the collaborationist Iraqi Communist Party. Mahmoud al-Sheikh Radhi’s party (if it does exist) is even different from Younis’ “wing”: it is only a bunch of opposers to Saddam and usurped and besmirched the Baath party’s name. And probably it was (and is) on Syria’s payroll (and maybe on Iran’s and/or CIA’s ones too).

By the way, i’ve just posted a statement by the true Iraqi Baath party:
