More tough love for Israel

Anybody noticed this recent sudden U.S. “awakening” about Israel — Palestine peace process? Condoleezza Rice is so optimistic that she said: “The peace agreement can be reached this year”, even when Abbas lost all hopes and decided to resign, and even she knows that she selling air to the Palestinians [see “Tough Love for Israel” thanks for Syria comment for the link], so, why this year?

According to the Palestinian newspaper al-Manar sources:

A Palestinian — Israeli agreement will be announced at the coming summit in Sharm al-Sheikh this month, with the participation of Arab countries, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and UAE.

The agreement will contains five points none-obliged to both sides, which means that Israel can ignore this agreement later [or after Bush’s presidential term] and return to the negotiations stage,

The sources told the newspaper that the announcement of this agreement which Washington considers an achievement for President Bush’s administration before he leaves the White House, and there will be more focus on Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza in the coming months, afte that Tel Aviv and Washington realized that it is impossible to go to war against Iran.

As you see, it is not about the peace process, it is about Bush’s presidential era to be remembered with something.
