“Bush Declaration”: Israel is a Jewish state

I read this report a week ago on a Palestinian newspaper, and yesterday it is confirmed by Saudi Okaz newspaper:

Palestinian sources said that at Bush’s visit to Israel and in his speech at the Israeli Knesset, he announce a very important “dangerous” points include a”promise” which will holds his name, carrying the same signs, means and consequences of Balfour Declaration [Balfour Promise in Arabic] in 1917.

The sources confirmed that High rank American official contacted some Arab countries and informed them about some of the point in Bush’s expected speech, which will cause embarrassment for the U.S. Arab allies, the sources added that the declaration [promise] will be the declaring Israel as a [Jewish State], which means the cancellation of the right to return to the Palestinians, and other main issues in the conflict.

I don’t understand. The USA has always maintained that Israel is a Jewish state and that the Palestinians have no right of return. Why would they be embarrassed? I think personally that Israel as a Jewish state is an abomination, but the US has never supported the Palestinians. The US always maintains that the Palestinians only have rights if they GIVE UP the right of return. i.e. They have NO rights. Where is the surprise? I’m afraid, Ladybird, that believing anything else has been pure wishful thinking. Perhaps the US has been saying stuff in Arabic that sounds different, but not in English.

  2. I am afraid you are right, do the US care what the Arabs or Palestinians want??

    Sure not
