Arab writers on the Lebanese crisis

Although Jordan denies the reports of training Lebanese militias, Fahmi Huwaidi the well-known Egyptian Arab writer and thinker revealed today to Elaph:

Everything that happens in Lebanon since the end of 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel is to “disarm Hizballah”, the United States and Israel and with the participation of some Arab countries to achieve this goal, to weaken Syria and Iran, Hizballah is the major obstacle to accomplish these goals.

One of the things that occurred lately but did not reported widely, that there are militias belong to Saad Hariri received training in Egypt and Jordan in order to confront Hizballah, these militias have emerged in the first day of the confrontation in Lebanon (Last Wednesday), there are fears of civil war, but more political than sectarian.

There fare ew important articles by Jordanian writers:

Tahir al-A’adwan - Mistakes committed by the “majority” in Lebanon

It is clear that the “majority” bet on Bush administration positions and its promises, it is a losing bet because the United States wants its allies to serve their policies and interests, and not to serve its allies’ policies and interests…. The U.S. do not fight on behalf of others, the (majority) mistake in Lebanon is that they believed Bush administration promises.

Mohammad A’akoush - Is happening in Lebanon.

Among the reasons which led to this unfortunate and sad reality is that the government supporters and 14M Movement used an exclusion and domination of power policy, and bet on direct role of the Arab regimes and the pressure of foreign countries, and perhaps military intervention in a certain moment, including the United States and France, the M14 Movement forget that the best and fastest solution is through internal Lebanese dialogue with the opposition rather than go directly to the Arabs and West.

Nahed Hattar - Lebanon overcome the danger of a civil war

The government allies know that the power balance on the ground is not in their benefit, but they had bet on a Shiite - Sunni sectarian strife,…and decided to drag the army into confrontation with Hezbollah and that the army will intervene to their side, but the army shows that it is a national institution.
