Iran’s conditions to support Maliki

Some information about the Maliki’s expected visit to Iran next week reported on Al-Khaleej. The newspaper revealed that Iran invited Maliki, to be his first stop in his regional tour.

The newspaper says that Iran put two conditions to support him: 1) Not signing the long-term security presence agreement with the U.S. 2) To ease the pressure on the Shiites militias, to keep their strikes against anti-Iranian presence.

The negotiations will be on the political bloc formed by Ja’afari who failed to obtain Sistani’s support because of it is a split will weakens the Shiite position. This is the reason that Ja’afari went to Qom to get Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s support.

There is report on Awan (we can call it funny) about thirty stolen armored vehicles from the U.S. embassy in Baghdad since 2007.

American security officials consider that this periodic car-theft is a “major security flaw” because it is happening inside the “Green Zone”, where security measures are very high and complicated. Americans fear that the Iraqi resistance groups are responsible for these thefts.
