Al-Dhari hints: Truce and cooperation with Muqtada Al-Sadr

Something remarkable happened during AMSI 1st conference in Syria but it was never reported by the media, not even the Arab media.

Better late than never, at last AMSI Secretary General Harith Al-Dhari offered truce and hints of readiness to cooperate with Muqtada Al-Sadr.

There is no transcript of his speech, not even in Arabic, but I managed to obtain a short clip [2,67mb, 1,37 minutes, wmv] of Al-Dhari’s speech at the conference saying [I wrote the transcript in Arabic, click on the image to enlarge]:

Some Say that this government [Maliki’s government] backtracked from its sectarism by striking the Sadrists Trend, to balance the strikes on the Sadirsts and the Sunnis in some areas.

And we say: This is a smokescreen, it is still the same sectarian government, and the strikes on the al-Sadr Trend happened because the Trend is forming a big pressure on the government, and becomes a strong competitor in the upcoming elections.

This is the desire of some foreign interference from here and there who wants to marginalize this Trend, because in the [Sadrists] Trend there are patriots who do not want to divide Iraq and oppose the occupation forces. Therefore, this Trend had been attacked, despite that some of the ignorants , outlaws who has been paid to do against their brothers in prior periods.

As you see, Al-Dhari offered truce and tried to reach the Sadrists by blaming “the others” who infiltrated the Mahdi Army on the sectarian violence.

Still there is no comments about this on the AMSI website but sooner or later, some information will be show up, and I think right now there are some kind of negotiations between AMSI and the Sadrists in Syria.

As a reminder since 2003 [the occupation] until 2006, Sadrists and AMSi were allies, suicide bombs against the Shiites made them enemies.
