Maliki jumped off Bush’s sinking ship to ride with Obama

Anybody wondered why this tone change in (Cole’s, Aardvark’s) posts? Why the duo out of the sudden not criticizing Maliki, SOFA and the long American presence? Here is the reason, explained on Assafir’s article “Why Maliki supports Obama?”.

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki of the Green Zone in Baghdad is the fastest jump off Bush’s disappearing ship, and not to say sinking in the global political Sea. He jumped and rides behind Obama on the back of a horse heading to the White House.

Maliki turned in the eyes of Democratic Party more Democrat than the Democrats themselves, especially that his position is consistent with the Democrats view and their candidate Obama that in 2010 is the beginning of U.S. withdrawal from Iraq.

The article says that there are two reasons for this change in Maliki’s position, from defender of the American forces presence in Iraq into publicly asking for a timetable for the withdrawal of the American forces in Iraq.

The truth is that the above question, is not that hard to answer, and depends on two factors: the first is internal and the other is “American”.

On the internal level — contrary to the government propaganda, security is not improving but it is getting much worst, during the time of writing this article, eight people were killed and twenty others injured in a suicide attack carried out by a woman,…

Al-Maliki’s position from the American withdrawal is to delude the international and the regional community with message that security is improving or stable, while the Iraqi people at home can see the real security situation.

The writer added that the Maliki is playing a “nationalism” game to save his own Dawa Party and also to distance himself from other Shiites political blocs [Supreme Council].

On the American level — A tactical position from the fact that the current U.S. administration in its last months can’t take serious measures to remove Maliki from office.…

.….Gambles on a hot candidate [Obama] to win the U.S. presidential elections in order to maintain his position as long as possible, recognizing that U.S. forces will not withdraw before two years.
