Assad: We will accept the Russian missiles in Syria

This fast, impor­tant points trans­la­tion of Assad inter­view with Russ­ian news­pa­per Kom­m­er­sant, Assad said that if Rus­sia offered to place their mis­siles in Syria, he will accept the offer.

A: We are a major power, we are a small coun­try, but the sit­u­a­tion is dif­fer­ent with Rus­sia. Find­ing solu­tion for Cen­tral Asia, Cau­ca­sus, Europe prob­lems with­out Rus­sia is impossible.I think Rus­sia emerged from the war in Geor­gia much stronger.

Q: Rus­sia can answer the U.S. mis­siles with plac­ing Russ­ian mis­siles in Syria, what do you think?

A: Syria and Rus­sia coop­er­ated before and we are ready to coop­er­ate with Rus­sia again to pro­tect the Russ­ian secu­rity but there is no such agree­ment yet

Q: Is it cor­rect what heard now, If Rus­sia pro­posed such offer are you ready to accept it?

A: In prin­ci­ple yes, but first mil­i­tary experts must study this project, their con­clu­sion will open to the public.

Q: Are you going to dis­cus arma­ment with Russia?

A: Sure, mil­i­tary coop­er­a­tion is very impor­tant and both coun­tries should accel­er­ate this coop­er­a­tion –Rus­sia and in the world now already know about the role of Israel and its mil­i­tary advi­sors in the Geor­gian crisis.

Q: What about the media infor­ma­tion which says that Syria buys weapon for Iran? Is this happened?

A: Let us dis­cus this log­i­cally, Iran enjoys a very good rela­tions with Rus­sia and they already buy­ing Russ­ian weapons, why I buy weapons for Iran from Rus­sia while they can buy it themselves.
