Coming soon: Basra battle – round two

It seems that his expectations are true, Ismail Al-Wa’li brother of Basra governor revealed some important information to the Jordanian newspaper Al-Ghad that orders came from Sistani’s son Mohammad Ridha to the Maliki’s government to mobilize the Iraqi army and attack Basra for the second round.

His information are confirmed by Qatari newspaper Al-Bayan, which reported that military command in Basra is preparing for a new security campaign in the city. The newspaper quoted Basra’s command spokesman colonel Abbas Al-Timimi saying:

The new campaign will cover all Basra area to arrest the outlaws who fled to other places during the previous campaign.

We reported earlier that Maliki and the United Iraqi Alliance are very upset with the outcome of the previous Basra campaign and it is time things must be corrected.

Ismail was considered Basra’s largest oil smuggler and fled the country because he was wanted by the government for his criminal activities. I would hold anything he says with a big fat grain of salt.
