The Americans involvement in Khanaqin crisis

Kurdish newspaper Aso reported that the Maliki’s government transferred four Kurdish army leaders from their positions in Mosul to the Defense Ministry in Baghdad.

The newspaper concluded that it is part of the government plan to “Arabize” the army.

Why the Americans involvement in Khanaqin crisis as reported by Al-Bayan?:

A delegation led by U.S. General Commander in northern Iraq will arrive to Khanaqin to discuss the crisis in the region.

Al-Zubuidi explains that the crisis originally started by the American forces since the early days of the occupation where the American army asked the Kurdish Peshmerga militia for protection in Diyala province.

The Kurds were very happy to offer this “service” to the Americans, they thought it is a green light from the Americans to expand their Kurdistan territory.

In this article the writer argues that the problems started not because of the Kurdish presence in Diyala but because the Kurds mismanaged of the areas under their control. The creation of an extra province Karmiyan for example [North Diyala and some parts of Kirkuk].
