Al-Sadr: Keep the resistance after my death, new organization “Divine Punishment”

An attempt to “make it good” with the Sadrists, Maliki invited Sadr Trend leaders for Ramadan dinner, while Sadrists sympathizer website “World News Net” reported about unknown organization called “Divine Punishment Brigades” distributed leaflets in Baghdad promises to “divinely” punish the government officials who sign the SOFA agreement with Americans:

We are watching you daily, and investigate every single development about the security agreement. We found that there are officials in the government are serving the crusaders American occupation to sign this agreement as soon as possible and we consider those as traitors deserve the just punishment ordered by God. We gave a promise to ourselves to follow those inside Iraq or abroad to fulfill this punishment.

A new statement issued by Muqtada Al-Sadr asks his followers not to give up resisting the occupation even if he dies.

Al-Sadr was answering back a nine points loyalty statement addressed by “Al-Assaib” [the Mehdi Army sub-organization, special forces allowed to resist the occupation] confirms the group’s obedience, some of the important points are:

- Continue the resistance as long as possible, until liberation and victory with the withdrawal of the occupation.

- Follow the military order as long as the military command follows the order from the central command [Al-Sadr].

- Not to target civilians ever and to harm the public, their interests and public facilities.

- Not to allow the participation of any person in the resistance only through the rules stated by the central command.

Muqtada Al-Sadr answered back:

Keep on your Jihad because it is your pride and glory to honor the faith and Islam and continue the resistance even after the death of Muqtada Al-Sadr.
