Syria got the green light from Europe to confront the Salafists in North Lebanon

Al-Akhbar says that there are two reasons behind the Syrian military reinforcement on the Northern Lebanese borders.

- To provide a geographic defense line for the Russian sea base in Syria’s Mediterranean port of Tartus.

- To confront armed groups oppose the regime in Syria, financed by some regional powers and the Americans. Syrian and Europeans want to act very fast before the danger of these groups’ increases.

The source repeated what Sarkozy said in the four-countries-summit:

We need Syria in Lebanon and with Iran, the United States know Syria’s major role in this frame..The United States know that we [France] are here and what the conditions joins us are, what we talk about and what we say.
