Jordan wants to deport Al-Dahri, SOFA postponed till the weekend
- Jordanian Ammon News quoted an Iraqi newspaper “Al-Rai” [not online] saying that the Jordanian government wants to deport Iraqi Sunni opposition leader and head of the Association of Muslim Scholars Harith Al-Dhari:
Informed source revealed that a meeting took place recently between a Jordanian official well-known among the Iraqi political figures, and an Iraqi person lives in Amman – Jordanian.
The Jordanian official informed the Iraqi that a decision will be taken soon to deport Al-Dhari because his presence [in Jordan] causes an embarrassment for the Jordanian government, especially his relations with the various Iraqi resistance groups.
- Al-Hayat confirmed what reported yesterday, that Sistani’s statement embarrassed the Maliki’s government and forced spokesman AL-Dabagh to denounce the “positive” American amendments regarding SOFA.
A source told the newspaper that Sistani’s position may strengthen the government’s position and will not necessarily be an embarrassment.
To maneuver around these conflicting reported and embarrassment, Green Zone newspaper Al-Sabaah reported that the Iraqi government partially agreed on the security agreement
Wasting more time, Al-Hayat reported that Iraqi government asked for more time for internal discussions and legal consults. The “more time” according to Finance Minister is: Saturday or Sunday.
Even Barzani, questioned the possibility of signing the agreement this year in his press conference today in Irbil.
- Former Prime Minister Allwai told Kuwaiti newspaper AL-Jareeda today:
I was in Washington and met with Democrats and Republicans. The democrats show more understanding and the willingness to discuss the regional problems and Iraq.
