Obama’s representatives visit Syria

Reported on Sada Syria some details about the delegation’s visit to the Arab Insti­tute of Inter­na­tional and Polit­i­cal Stud­ies — Damascus:

Chair­man of the Insti­tute Nizar Mai­houb said that there is a “cau­tious opti­mism” in Syr­ian pub­lic opin­ion of Obama’s pol­icy in the region. The U.S. for­eign pol­icy is decided by:

What the Syria wants from Obama:

- Ful­fill his promise to with­draw U.S. troops from Iraq and respect the will of the Iraqi people.

- Talks to Syria and stop the pres­sure. Appoint­ment a reli­able U.S. ambas­sador in Dam­as­cus. The Baker-Hamilton commission’s report had stressed the cen­tral role of Syria in the region.
