I reported about the plot of the Islamic Party very briefly and covered by Badger in details, it seems that there is some kind of dispute among the “mother-organization” (Islamic Brotherhood) and the political-wing (Islamic Party).
A statement released by the Islamic Brotherhood in Iraq, uses “soft-language” criticizing SOFA’s missing points, such compensation for damages, the protection of Iraqi money and building the army. The statement also includes a rejection of the U.S. presence in Iraq.
Signs of split between the two? Not sure yet.
We are proud with your SOFA rejection Fatwas and we would like to ask those who issued them [Fatwas] to advice us on how to treat those who signed the Agreement … What to do with those who ligitimezed the fight against the Mujahdeen and called them terrorists, those who authorized the enemy to fight us…
To answer the question of why Sunni participating in signing the Agreement was very essential and even much more important than the other Shiites factions [Sadrists], Jordanian writer Al-Za’tra answers:
It was very important for other political blocs to distribute the “sin” of signing the Agreement among all ethnic, sectarian factions to show that there are opposition and supporter not within the Shiites only, but Sunnis also.
Good to read about the preparations of Iraqi resistance and opposition group to hold a anti-SOFA conference in Beirut soon, and also good news to read Iraqi woman writer Haifa Zankana will start her own opposition group.
LB, thanks so much for keeping us up with all of this. Could you check your link to the Jihad and Reform Front statement? The link doesn’t seem to be working, for me at least. And I forget their URL…
got it now, thanks
Thanks to you Badger for your great blog content
Thank you for both of you, Badger and LB :)
