Three sharp slaps to Egyptian diplomacy in one day

I bet you will read something similar in tomorrow’s Al-Qads Al-Arabi Op-ed. Bari Atwan told Aljazeera that the reason behind Egypt’s invitation of Europeans to Sharm Al-Sheikh excluding the United States, is that Mubarak really humiliated by the U.S. – Israel agreement

While Aluf Benn’s article on Haaretz explains that the ceasefire decision had nothing to do with Egypt’s efforts and Peace Initiative, Alraynews reported the details of the Egyptian humiliation calling it a trap set for Egypt by Israel saying:

Cairo considered the [ceasefire news-leak] is a “trap” set by Israel, to throw the ball to Egypt, in the sense that the conditions that for a ceasefire and withdrawal of Israeli forces are not related to Hamas’ stop the rocket fire, but with the Cairo declaration of accepting the deployment of [foreign] forces within its borders.

Jordanian writer Uraib Al-Rantawi tries to be polite calling it “shocks” and not “slaps” in his article “Egyptian diplomacy, three shocks in one day”:

Two slaps from unexpected sources (Tel Aviv and Washington) and the third from (Doha — Qatar). From U.S. and Israel by signing an agreement without consulting Egypt with any single article. Third shock “slap” came from Doha, with Gaza’s solidarity Summit which raised the level of the official Arab political demand, and ends the age of the “big brothers” [Saudi Arabia and Egypt] domination on the joint Arab action.

During the Suez war (1956ff.) Israel, England and France fucked up their war to the effect that the U.S. took over the Egypt Suez Canal domination, thus collecting the U.K. & France shares of the stock, thus also heavily contributing to the US-UK “special relation”.

What’s going in Egypt now can be seen as the reverse of those developments, but let’s see how it goes.

As the Bush’s off very soon, tomorrow and the day after will be somewhat critical also what comes to this issue.
