Maliki’s “Death Squad” unit

Kuwaiti media group Al-Rai (news­pa­per and TV) obtained a highly clas­si­fied doc­u­ment shows the exis­tence of an “assas­si­na­tion squad”, equipped with mod­ern weapons and equip­ment more advanced than arms owned by the Iraqi army units.

The unit is super­vised directly by the Head of the Armed Forces, who is accord­ing to the Iraqi con­sti­tu­tion is the Prime Min­is­ter Nuri Al-Maliki.

Anony­mous offi­cers told Al-Rai that the unit arrests for­mer Ba’athists who are wanted by the Head of the Armed Forces Office.

The one page doc­u­ment con­tains fields with infor­ma­tion such as (Date of arrest, the name of the wanted per­son, address..etc).

The doc­u­ment obtained by the news­pa­per con­tains a name of per­son called “Sami Shibeeb”, a for­mer Ba’athists in his fifties arrested 21-Aug. 2009, later Shibeeb found dead with tor­ture marks on his body.
