AKI says that the U.S. opposition pushed Egypt to postpone the reconciliation.

One of Fatah leaders told Al-Quds Al-Arabi:

There are indication and we know it says that Syria and Iran froze the reconciliation process.

Another Fatah leader Azam Al-Ahmid told Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh that Arab countries (he didn’t want to name which) advised Hamas not to sign the reconciliation.

Hamas leader Abu Marzouk said that the Egyptian proposal contains some reservations on some points:

- The U.S. demand that the Palestinian reconciliation must be based on the U.S. conditions.

- The second point concerns the need for a guarantee that to respect the results of any election held. what it would be if ‘Hamas’ wins the election, will the Palestinian Authority and Arabs recognize Hamas’ government?

- The future of the embargo imposed on the Gaza Strip, and the mechanism of the Rafah crossing.

- Hamas prisoners in the Egyptian prisons, Their release is a key demand must be achieved as soon as possible.
