ISCI held its conference and chose Ammar Al-Hakim as a permanent leader (as expected), but one interesting thing; the conference end statement approached Ammar Al-Hakim as “Hujut-Al-Islam Wal-Muslimeen” (Verse of Islam and Muslim), which is a high ranked religious title, Ammar Al-Hakim doesn’t own a any religious title.
The ISCI’s end statement presented a collection of demands, such as:
- ISCI asks to drop Iraq’s debt’s (Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim is the one who asked for compensation for Iran).
- The ISCI called to fight the financial and administrative corruption, while the Financial Minister Baqir Solgh is ISCI member.
- ISCI says that basic services doesn’t exist and not available for more than six years, while ISCI is part of the same government for six years.
In a press conference, The Christian Science Monitor corespondent asked this question:
Q- We noticed several recent meetings with Iranian officials. Have you received assurances from those officials to put pressure on some groups and militias within Iran, especially that the Americans accused Iran of bombing a market market in Baghdad?
A- There are frequent accusations, which need to further verification. Iran announced more than once, and I confirmed that through my meetings with Iranian officials, its will to support and establish security and stability and to stand with the Iraqi people to overcome the crisis.
