We stay with the election, but away from the election law crisis (as they call it), there one important development day:

As expected, the political Bloc “Iraq Unity” chose Bolani as the Chairman of the Bloc, former Parliament speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani as the General Secretary , Abdul-Ghafoor Samarrai, Ahmad Abu Risha, Vice-Presidents.

Today’s session is postponed for two reasons: 1) Only 90 MPs attended today’s session. 2) There is nothing to talk about, as Baha’a Al-Araji said that election law is still in the Presidential Council. so, why this emergency meeting?

The information after the session are still confusing. There is one report says that Hashimi “semi-approved” today’s proposal, and there is a second report says that Hashimi is not satisfied with today’s session and he insists on vetoing the new law tomorrow, one hour before the end of the day.

I want to explain the alliances, because there is no one recognizable map which we can use to decipher the code of who is joining who:

(= join, x vs)

Kurds = Maliki x Hashimi

After Hashimi’s meeting Talabani last Thursday, there are some changes in Talabani’s position, admitting that Hashimi’s veto is constitutional.

Kurds = Sadrists x Maliki

Sadrists rejected Maliki’s candidate “Walid Al-Hilli” to head the new De-Baathificaton committee “Accountability and justice”. Kurds changed their position to support the Sadrists’ candidate “Hamid AL-Saidi” after supporting Maliki’s candidate few days ago.

INA x Maliki

Saying we will not allow the coming Prime Minister to dominate the power.

INA = Maliki x Hashimi

And that is the election law crisis.
