The U.S. and Baath Party meetings, Obama — Barzani deal

After the famous phone call between Obama and Barzani, that made the Kurdish leader to change his mind allowing the election law to pass, Al-Hayat reveals the deal between the two:

A high-level political sources told Al-Hayat that the U.S. administration promised to ensure the Kurds weight in the Iraqi equation, regardless of the size of parliamentary representation. The source said that Barazani complained about the deliberate intention to limit the Kurds’ role in Baghdad, by withdrawing President post from the Kurds giving it to the Sunnis. The American promised to keep the ethnic and sectarian balance in the Iraqi equation.

In today’s explosions, Maliki’s used the same accusations that the Baath Party is the one behind the explosion, he even said this yesterday in online Q&A with journalists:

Q– [You] repeatedly said that here is a ban on the Baath Party in Iraq, accompanied by accusations of bombings. There are reports say that the United States will hold a conference with the Baath Party in Washington, next February, to take them back to the political process what is your reaction to this American, do you think America will take this step?

A– If these news are true and I doubt it, the U.S. conference with Baath Party is a violation to SOFA context because the U.S. will side an ideology no less dangerous than al-Qaeda, and will effect our relations negatively.

The information about a meeting between the U.S. and the Baath party are true, They are already met two weeks ago in an “North-African” Arab capitol and they decided to meet again in Washington.
