Iran and Mubarak’s tour to the Gulf-States

The tim­ing between Larijani’s visit to Cairo and the Houthis ini­tia­tive to with­draw from their posi­tions inside Saudi Ara­bia. Lar­i­jani deliv­ered a mes­sage from Iran­ian pres­i­dent Ahmadine­jad to his Egypt­ian coun­ter­part Mubarak, which pushed the lat­ter to tour three of the Gulf Arab states.

Prob­a­bly, the deal includes:

- Start a new page in rela­tions between Egypt — Iran.

- Iran to open its embassy in Egypt, which has been closed since 1979.

- Iran­ian pro­pos­als to improve its rela­tions with the Gulf-States, par­tic­u­larly Saudi Ara­bia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emi­rates (explains Mubarak’s tour the three Gulf Arab states).

- “Mod­er­ate Arabs” to improve its rela­tions with Syria (Kuwaiti news­pa­per Al-Dar reported about Syria-Egypt-Saudi Ara­bia sum­mit soon).

What Iran man­ages to do:

- Secure the Iran-Turkey rela­tions, Turkey has become one of the most promi­nent oppo­nents of inter­na­tional sanc­tions against Iran.

- Secure Iran-Arabs rela­tions — Through Iran’s com­mit­ment to sup­port the Egypt­ian nuclear pro­gram, in order to improve the ties with Arabs (Kuwaiti Al-Watan reported that GCC coun­tries and Egypt reused any mil­i­tary oper­a­tion against Iran).

Improv­ing its rela­tions with the neigh­bor­ing coun­tries, Iran secured Rus­sia and China posi­tion is the Iran’s sanc­tions dis­cussed by the UN.
