Nothing new in the Yemen’s president Ali Abdullah Salih speech, repeating the same points counting his “achievements” to “modernize” the country, without mentioning the corruption.
He also repeated his conditions to seize fire fire the Houthis, except he replaced one point (Houthis to release of the German hostages) with this point (no aggression on the Saudi Arabia territory).
There is one thing needs to be noted, the Houthis call for talks with Saudi Arabia came after many articles appeared on the Saudi Arabia media call the Yemeni government to talk to the opposition.
The Op-Ed of the Saudi newspaper Al-Watan for example said the following:
The current stage in Yemen require considerable work to strengthen unity, because the nation can and need all the efforts of all its citizens.… The authority should listen to the opposition, because that would effect the missing power balance.
Something similar on other Saudi newspaper Al-Rriyadh:
Poverty is often the reason behind these events in Yemen … The responsibility on the Arab countries, including the Gulf-States specifically.
