Jordan as proxy for Israel involvement in Iraq

In his fourth series arti­cles on Iraq affairs on Al-Akhbar, Ali Shi­hab wrote about the how Israel uses Jor­dan as a proxy to infil­trate Iraq.

Hot spots of the Israeli pres­ence in Iraq:

1) Kirkuk is the strate­gic geo­graph­i­cal posi­tion (in the cen­ter among Iran, Syria, Turkey). 2) Al-Faris Al-Arabi, used to be horses related sports club. 3) Bagh­dad inter­na­tional air­port. 4) Al-Habaniya mil­i­tary base.

The objec­tives of the Israeli pres­ence in Iraq:

Com­mer­cial pres­ence: Search­ing for new mar­kets, Israeli com­pa­nies infil­trated the Iraqi mar­ket. There are at least 70 active Israeli com­pa­nies in Iraq.

Most of the Israel com­pa­nies present in Iraq under the cover of Jor­dan­ian com­pa­nies, in exchange for per­cent­age for the Jordanian.

What Shi­hab revealed is just a reminder but its not new, Here is doc­u­ment in Ara­bic shows in more details the Israeli involve­ments though Jordan.

Excerpts:

[Israel] removes [Made in Israel] stick­ers from its prod­ucts and puts another stick­ers indi­cate that it is man­u­fac­tured in Europe or Arab, … Mostly Jor­dan­ian stick­ers, for the fears that Iraqi will pur­chase these prod­ucts. .… Syr­ian customs-authorities seized last June five Jor­dan­ian trucks loaded with Israeli goods …

    I sug­gest that you take a close look in the Iraq’s map if your years in school didn’t teach you enough!
