First, there are rumors circulated today say, that Maliki ordered to stop the Justice and Accountability decision before Biden’s visit, but the Committee denied these reports. Alsumariya assured of the existence of such order (I bet the problem is how to bring it to the public).

Among the the names we can read the name of the current Defense Minister Abdul Kader Al-Ubaidi, he is number 282 (image 1). The Head of the Sufi sect Nihru Mohammad Abdul Al-Karim, number 489 (image 2) .… remarkable is that most of the excluded are from Anbar Province, but there are Shiite candidates excluded also.

It is also important to see the two criteria used to exclude the candidates. 1) Ba’athists who swore the Baath Party’s oath (used to be a routine ritual for all Baath Party members) and named in the documents possessed by the Committee. 2) Candidates fall under Article 7 of the constitution:

Untitled with terrorism crime, are persons who are active and participate in terrorists acts, funding terrorism .…etc

There is one point here:

- Article 7 uses the phrase “The Baath of Saddam Husein”. Since Baath Party existed before Saddam Husein, Mutlaq resigned from the party in 1977 and even Saddam himself executed and imprisoned Baathists, then this point is arguable.

Side note:

Ironically, Al-Mutlaq resigned from the Baath Party defending the Dawa Party in its 1977 uprising, at that time called the “Khan Al-Nus” events.

Notice also that the U.S. vice president Biden asked to “postpone” the decision and not to “cancel” the decision — because he knows and the Iraqi knows that that there is a very narrow margin to maneuver against the Iraqi constitution (and the U.S> don’t want to be seen as forcing the Iraqi institutions to violate the constitution).

Hashimi is lying, if the decision is questionable then this is for the Federal Court, “J and A” did nothing against the constitution, but the question raised by the Iraqi media is: Why did the U.S. allowed the existence of this law?

The theory circulates among Iraqis about the U.S. position, falls under containing the new emerged political power in Iraq. The excluded arel given the opportunity to participate in the election, after abandoning their previous ideology. In other words; Taming the new politicians.
