Current crisis: The U.S., the coalitions and the positions

The title of the Al-Sharq Al-Awsat : Ban the Baathists: supported by the Shiite majority .. rejected by the Sunni Arabs .. reservation by the Kurds, says more about the U.S. triple-standards policy in Iraq: 1) Neutrality with the Kurds pushing them to strengthen their role in the equation, 2) Supporting the Shiite juridical procedures. 3) Makes the Sunnis feel that Washington does not trust the “J and A” Commission.

The Shiites

The Americans insist on re-arranging Iraq’s internal house before the withdraw of U.S. military forces in August at the end of next year, most likely that Washington and several Iraqi political blocs want take Maliki out of the political process through the ballot boxes.

With Biden’s presence in Iraq, Maliki saw the current as his last chance to cut a deal with the Americans, especially that Obama’s Administration after inviting Adil Abdul Mehdi, Hashimi and Barzani show signs that they are not interested in Maliki any more.

A day before Biden’s visit, Pro-Maliki Al-Sumaria TV leaked a document signed by the Head of the Ministers Council Ali Al-A’alaq, showed that the Council doesn’t recognize the Justice and Accountability decision.

The same Al-A’alaq who signed the document mentioned above, later said on Fayha TV:

The Gov. and the Parliament positions from “J and A” is very clear, it is a legitimate and constitutional body, no one has the right to cancel its decisions.

The Sunnis

The Islamic Party is part of the plot, and I already said the that the reason is to take a revenge from its former leader Al-Hashimi, and if the position of the Islamic Party leader telling Joe Biden his refusal to postpone the “J and A” decision until after the election doesn’t says enough, then his meeting with “Madhat Al-Mahmmoud” the Head of Supreme Federal Court do.

P.S.

Madhat Al-Mahmmoud, used to be a good friend of Saddam Hussein, and Saddam’s legal adviser for three years. In 2002 he wrote an article called “The greatest leader for the greatest people” dedicated to Saddam Hussein in the military ran newspaper Al-Qadisiya. About two years ago Al-Mahmmoud himself is threatened with the de-Baathification

The Kurds

This is the weirdest position, Kurdish officials in Kurdistan region support Mutlaq and the excluded candidates, the Kurdish MP representatives in Baghdad support “J and A” decision.

Both Talabani and Barzani expressed their rejection to Mutlaq’s and other the candidates exclusion, while Kurdish deputy-House speaker has said that “J and A” decision is constitutional and based on evidence and facts.

The Secular Parties

Representative of the Arab League Bin Hilli after his mediation visit described his meeting with Allawi as “disappointing” saying: Allawi wasn’t very enthusiast to find a solution to the crisis.
