At least one source has said that the Supreme Federal Court gave its answer to the IHEC about the legality of “J and A”, and the answer (as you see in the image above) is; “J and A is an illegal institution”. The above is not confirmed and it could be part of Allawi’s “psycho-war” against the sectarian parties, but there are two confirmed developments today:
In a drastic change of position, the Kurdistan Regional Government released a statement says that the decision made by Appeals Court is a violation to the constitution and against the “J and A“‘s rules.
The significance about the above statement is that it challenges Jalal Talabani’s position, which is not only supportive to the Appeals Court but Talabani himself was the “brain” behind it.
It is very clear that Barzani wants to marginalize Talbani’s influence in the region, especially that from the 10 Kurds included by the “J and A“‘s decision there are at least 7 Talabani’s PUK Party members:
- Mosul candidates (Hussein Ali Ahmed Hussein, Abdul Rahman Mulla Mohammed Taher Khalid, Hussein Ali Mohammed Ahmed).
- Baghdad candidate (Samir Jihad Ahmad Karim, Abdul-Ghafour Karim Ali Ghafoor and Abdul-Kader Abdul Kader Mohammed Abdullah).
- Wasit Province candidate (Abbas Ibrahim Taha Yassin).
The Kurdistan Regional Government released a call for all the Kurdish Alliance MPs to participate in the Parliament session coming Sunday, and this lead us to the second development.
Confirmed today by Al-Sumaria, the rumor I reported yesterday about Maliki’s plan to withdraw the confidence from the Appeals Court is one of the two subjects will be discussed in Sunday’s Parliament session, the other subject is the U.S. interference in Iraq’s affairs.
Al-Dawa leader Ali Al-Adeeb threatened today saying that the Parliament approved the Appeals Court and the Parliament can also withdraw this approval.
Allawi’s Al-Iraqiya’s List’ politicians are communicating with the other Parliament blocs trying to prevent the Sunday’s parliamentary session, arguing that this will create a new crisis.
PUK is close to Iran, but Jalal Talabani said he is not in favour of banning non-Saddamist Baathists.
