It started with an article published on the “Green Zone” newspaper Al-Sabah, says the following:
Political sources close to the ongoing negotiations between INA and the “State of Law” revealed that the next 48 hours will witness the official announcement of the new ruling coalitions.
Al-Quds Al-Arabi revealed the following:
A source close to INA said that the announcement of formation of a new coalition between INA and SoL depends on the results of Ammar Al-Hakim’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
Sistani’s spokesman and his representative in Beirut Hamid Al-Khafa hurried to announce that the Supreme cleric Sistani has nothing to do with the formation of the new ruling coalition between INA and SoL.
What exactly is going on?
As I said before, it seems that Ja’afari and Chalabi have their own agenda, trying to force the formation of such coalition on INA (since SoL is happy to hear this news), even without the approval of the Sadrists. Here is what UAE newspaper Al-Ithad published:
Sources close to the meeting (between INA and SoL) said that the Alliance (between the two) doesn’t reached the level of merging both coalitions in one coalition and not even the announcement of the formation of one coalition.
The article goes on to reveal Ja’afari’s role:
During the past few days, Ibrahim Jaafari, leader of Islah Movement, pushed to form an alliance between the Supreme Council, Dawa Party, the Islamic Party and the Kurdistan Alliance.
The sources said that Jaafari’s efforts has not been a success or even accepted because it has encountered opposition from many sides who does not want to exclude Al-Iraqiya List led by Iyad Allawi, from any future coalition, as well as that of the Islamic party is no longer represents the Sunnis in Iraq.
Add to above that the old dispute between the Sadrists and Dawa Party on Maliki’s nomination still exists. Here are the two links published today on Al-Sumeria: “State of Law still nominates Maliki as PM” and “Sadrists Al-Araji: Maliki’s nomination by SoL is the obstacle against the formation of new coalition between SoL and INA”
In reality, it was Muqtada Al-Sadr is the one who forced both coalitions to cancel the announcement of forming an Alliance (see image below)
