The existence of secret prisons is already reported on Al-Hayat and on this website: “Secret prison in South Baghdad run by the CIA” in September last year. Aljazeera released a video of an interview with some detainees

Shortly after Maliki’s press conference in which he announced the assassination of the two Al-Qaeda leaders, Latimes published a story about a secret prison established by special forces work under the prime Minister’s command.

The timing of the story is not coincidence, we don’t know who leaked the story, but it is politically motivated action meant to take Maliki back to earth after his (U.S. boosted) few hours of victory. An official in the Human Rights Ministry told AKI that there are political motivations behind the leak of the “secret prison” (according to Al-Sumeria, there are at least 4 secret prisons).

Despite the information that the secret prison(s) is used to detain Sunnis, the Sadrists were the first and the only reacted. Sadrist Baha’a Al-Araji told Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Dar:

This scandal is the silver bullet which will end Maliki’s government and political future.

The Sadrists also deployed their prisoners in the official prisons to demonstrate in “solidarity” with other detainees in the secret prisons.

Aljazeera revealed that high-ranked officers connected to Maliki are running these prisons, and Maliki’s Dawa Party headquarters is based in an office near the prison.
