Two important development for the last few days are:

i- According to Saudi newspaper Al-Watan: The Kurdish Alliance is ready to abandon its demand for the “President” post, and will accept the “Parliament Speaker” post.

ii- A new scandal revealed by Al-Sharqiya TV. A video clip shows Iraqi army members torture the a body of a dead person. The video clip started a new row about human rights in Iraq.

It seems that the internationalization of the current political crisis is the only weapon Al-Iraqiya List can use against its rivals (and everybody is afraid of), especially that there is sympathy from the Arabs, sub-regional and international with the Al-Iraqiya List. Maliki criticized Allawi’s attempts to internationalize the crisis, and Allawi denied these accusations saying that the Iraq is already internationalized.

As for Maliki, his options are also limited, and he needed to change his tactics from calmly waiting what the votes-recount brings to escalate his direct attacks on his rivals.

A day after a comment made by Al-Iraqiya spokesman Haider Al-Mulla, which he said that the international will, brought Nuri al-Maliki from the slums of “Al-Seida Zainab” neighborhood in Damascus (where Maliki lived before the occupation) to the prime minister seat in Iraq, a statement that caused resentment among the Iraqi political circles, including many within the Al-Iraqiya Coalition itself, Maliki in his speech in Karbala stressed on his refusal to the call for the formation of a caretaker government.

Maliki also refused to recognize the existence of a constitutional vacuum in the country, a refusal came two days before the next meeting of the Presidential Council on Monday, which is called by Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi to discuss the issue of a constitutional vacuum. President Jalal Talabani deny that he had received any call from Vice President Tariq Al-Hashemi on an urgent meeting of Iraq’s Presidency Council on Monday to examine the current political situation in Iraq, few hours later, Talabani welcomed the call of an urgent meeting.

Al-Iraqiya in its turn, announced that its spokesman Haidar Al-Mulla received death threat from Maliki’s office. Al-Damluji said that Mullah received a threat Telephone call from the Office of the Prime Minister.

Despite that the Sadrists agreed with Maliki in their rejection to internationalize the crisis, Maliki also indirectly accused the Sadrists of planning to attack the “Green Zone” with mortar barrage. Amir Al-Kanani secretary general of the “Liberal Movement” (Ahrrar) the political wing of the Sadrist movement, rejected Maliki’s remarks, saying that Maliki does not need to threaten, he must name the bloc who have threatened to strike the Green Zone.
