A move sought by some “Dawa Party” leaders as paving the way for creating more positive atmosphere between the Sadrists and the “State of Law”, Maliki has met with a delegation from the Sadrist Movement includes a number of prominent Sadrists leaders. Sadrist “Ahrar Bloc” leader Amir Al-Kenani officially told Maliki the movement’s rejection to his nomination for the prime Minister post.
The Sadrists position came as answer to the “State of Law” condition to merge both Shiite parties that their only candidate is Maliki.
Even Al-Hakim showed his irritation with Maliki’s insistence on the Prime Minister post in today’s interview on Al-Sharq Al-Awsat saying:
The selection of the candidates will be based on the agreed mechanism, if the outcome from “SoL” or not.
The interesting part, is that if the “State of Law” wants to look for an alternative candidate (since Dawa Party has no other candidate than Maliki), then the next in the row is the current Oil Minister “Shahrstani”, who represents the Iranian-line in “SoL” coalition rejecting any rapprochement with Allawi.
One trustworthy report on an Iraqi newspaper says that Maliki’s price to withdraw from the candidacy is retirment salary $30 million and a military force for his protection (image above).
Al-Kenani’s reacted: Maliki is not in a position to impose his conditions on us.
Telling Leila Fadel that he he would try to ally with the Kurds, Turkmen and Arabs in Kirkuk revealed yesterday in a press conference that Maliki appointed 400 Kurds officers in the city (most of them don’t even speak Arabic) accusing Maliki of selling Kirkuk to the Kurds
