Muqtada al-Sadr should put Turkey, Iran, the Kurds and the Clintons on the defensive by focussing on the following issues.

First, Sadr should denounce the Turkish government for inviting Kurdish leader Barzani to Turkey, where extensive Turkish-Kurdish consultations were held on highly sensitive border security issues, and with no participation by Iraqi military or civilian officials.

Second, Sadr should denounce Iran's leadership for keeping its options open for annexing Arab Basra, while enouraging the Kurds to annex Arab Kirkuk. Sadr should ask if such an Iranian-Kurdish partition of Iraq is on the agenda of today's consultations, and ask if Turkey is permitting Iranian diplomats to attend these consultations.

Third, Sadr should announce his intentions to seek support from the US,Iran, the Saudis, and the Syrians for protecting Iraq's territorial integrity,

Turkey is playing into Iran's reactionary plans that are anti-
Arab anti-Syrian, anti-Saudi, and anti-Palestinian. Turkey should not be viewed as progressive, democratic and multi-ethnic Arab state. Rather, Turkey should be viewed as an ally of Iran and the Kurds and a proponent of Iran's plan to confiscate Arab Basra while supporting Kurdish ambitions to confiscate Arab Kirkuk. Iran wants Tiurkey to focus Arab attention on Palestine while Iran creates new Kurdish states in Iraq and Syria, as part of Iran's war against the Arabs.
