Muqtada Al-sadr decided to halt all attacks on the American troops in Iraq, allowing them to withdraw completely at the end of the year.
This contradicts, earlier decision has been announced some time ago by the leader of the Sadrists Movement, following the US decision to send 600 troops of the U.S. soldiers to provide air cover during the withdrawal process, Al-Sadr described the US decision as “an attempt to boost its forces in Iraq.”
Sadr’s decision, comes as part of series of concessions that had started about two months ago, when last July he announced the continued freeze the Mahdi Army “even if the Americans stayed”.
One last thing to add, Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki cancelled his visit to Iran for this stage, especially after he had received assurances from Tehran about the situation of Syria, and the threat of Shiite leader Muqtada Al-Sadr.
The Iranians told Maliki not to fear from threats by organized demonstrations after Al-sadr left the decision of the demonstrations to the people, and it has been shown that the size of the demonstrations on Friday, does not constitute a threat to the status quo.
Worst, Sadrists call their supporters to demonstrate and thank “Maliki’s government”.
