Iraq: Al-Sadr blocked the Kurds deal with Baghdad

Few hours after the Kurdistan Alliance declared its determination and the political will to negotiate the oil law and to visit the Supreme religious authority in Najaf, Moqtada Al-Sadr announced his clear rejection of federalism before the Kurds take this move.

It is unknown yet whether the Supreme Shiite cleric Sistani, who refuses to receive Iraqi officials will exclude the Kurdish officials of this decision or not, but Al-Sadr’s rejection to include the disputed areas around Kirkuk province to the Kurdistan Region means that the Shiite coalition failed to unite its position as well as not having a unified stand on the current crisis with the Kurds.

Al-Sadr’s rejection statement to include the predominantly Shiite areas in Diyala Province to Kurdistan would declare the failure of the Kurds mission in advance.
