Iraq — Sadr’s “Mahdi Army” in Syria?

 

Video clip shows the announce­ment of the for­ma­tion of the “Free Anbar Brigade to sup­port the Syr­ian Peo­ple” in Iraq in its two oper­a­tions tar­get­ing buses trans­port Sadr’s “Mahdi Army” to Syria [as the Brigade claims] escorted by the Iraqi reg­u­lar Army.

Ear­lier this week Anbar’s Gov­er­nor Qasim Al-Fahdawi said that he has evi­dence of armed mem­bers of the Mahdi Army are trans­ported to Syria to help the Assad regime against the rebels.

Syr­ian oppo­si­tions claim that 100 buses car­ry­ing at least 4,500 armed Sadr’s mili­tias crossed the bor­der the Syr­ian bor­der, headed towards the Deir Al-Zour city.

    This is com­plete non­sense.
    I think the Syr­ian army has enough of its thou­sands of sol­diers. Why would some mili­tias inter­vene there ? The Syr­ian army can mobi­lize one mil­lion men.
    These alle­ga­tions are built by Occi­den­tal­ists in order to “demo­nize” Shias and their mili­tias (pas­darans, bassid­jis and Hizbul­lah has suf­fered the same lies).
